Vanhal: Sinfonia in g minor Vivaldi: Concerto for two Violoncelli in G minor Beethoven: Symphony No. 4
We jet away to Europe on November 14 for the “Best of Beethoven” and a delightfully entertaining evening of music. Beethoven’s Symphony No. 4 is a truly light and cheerful piece that puts on full display the great composer’s genius as a lyricist. The SOST has never performed this masterwork, and Maestro Chelsea Tipton says the orchestra is excited to share it with the audience.
While in this country of the most renowned composers, we also travel to Italy to bring you Antonio Vivaldi’s Concerto for Two Violoncelli in g minor featuring the SOST’s own cello soloists Thomas Schroeder and Sonya Matoussova. This sensational piece opens with an electrifying, bold role for both soloists and moves along leaving no doubt of its highly charged emotional content.
“This will be a wonderful evening of music making for everyone to enjoy,” said Maestro Chelsea Tipton.
Co-sponsored by Entergy and CHRISTUS – St. Elizabeth Hospital; soloists’ appearance made possible by the Beaumont Music Commission’s Charlene L. Kiker Guest Artist Endowment.
