The next stop on our amazing journey begins with the turbulent and tragic character of the Brahms “Tragic” Overture. The dark, minor key of the piece is then transformed into a brilliant triumph in Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2, one of most popular piano concertos ever written, which embodies the epitome of romanticism. At the time he composed this concerto, Rachmaninoff was emerging from a deep depression and this piece confirmed his recovery. This concert celebrating triumph over tragedy features the phenomenal, internationally acclaimed, blind pianist Nobuyuki Tsujii, the 2009 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition Gold Medal Winner. “This will definitely be a unique experience for everyone,” said Maestro Tipton.
