This inspiring program brings together unforgettable melodies\, powerful orchestral music\, and the extraordinary voices of the SOST Chorus and acclaimed baritone Reginald Smith Jr. \nThe evening opens with George Gershwin’s sparkling Overture to “Girl Crazy\,” a lively showcase of the composer’s irresistible melodies and the energy of 1930s American popular music. The journey continues with Zhou Tian’s thrilling Transcend\, which captures the pulse of the Transcontinental Railroad while honoring the Chinese workers whose extraordinary efforts helped connect the nation. \nThe concert reaches its emotional finale with selections from Gershwin’s groundbreaking Porgy and Bess.
