The Symphony of Southeast Texas is pleased to announce our second Classic Series concert of the 67th season. Our performance on November 16, 2019 is all about celebrating!
Our musical spirits come to life with the music of Rossini, Mozart and Vaughn Williams. Hear how Mozart’s impressions live on in Rossini’s Barber of Seville Overture, based on the central character of Figaro from Rossini’s opera! One of Mozart’s final symphonies, number 39, reveals the amazing influence his music had on future generations of composers. Carrying on our tradition, Maestro Tipton has asked Whitney Bullock, SOST Principal Violist, to round out our concert with Vaughn Williams’ beautiful folk song Suite for Viola and Orchestra, a wonderful display of the breadth and virtuosity of our symphony musicians.

The Symphony of Southeast Texas, embarking on its 67th season, is a regional, professional orchestra based in Beaumont, Texas. The Symphony performs a number of subscription concerts, educational programs and other concerts throughout Southeast Texas each year. SOST’s home base is the Julie Rogers Theatre in downtown Beaumont. The orchestra is composed of local musicians from Beaumont vicinity, as well as many musicians from the Houston and Lake Charles areas. Selections from the upcoming concerts include everything from Brahms and Hanson to Elgar and Copland. Bring the whole family out to see the Wizard of Oz on-screen with music by the SOST orchestra.
