Concerto Competition - Symphony of Southeast TexasThe Symphony of Southeast Texas is strongly committed to the education and development of our area students through the arts. This year, the Symphony will host an educational concert for all 5th graders where students will learn the relationship of music and academic elements and how they relate to Language Arts and Social Studies.

In addition, there will be three small group short concerts for all 2nd and 3rd graders which will feature a brass quintet, woodwind quintet, and a string quartet. Students will explore Igor Stravinsky’s Infernal Dance of King Kastchei from Firebird Suite, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Waltz from Sleeping Beauty, Aram Katchaturian’s Sabre Dance from Gayane, Antonín Dvořák’s Largo from Symphony No. 9 in e minor, and Aaron Copland’s Bought Me a Cat and Hoedown from Rodeo.
