The Symphony of Southeast Texas is delighted to announce the final concert of the season, Glory and Grandeur, on Saturday, April 2nd at 7:30pm at the Julie Rogers Theatre. The talented Maestro Chelsea Tipton II will lead your SOST orchestra in three works for this performance.
The evening begins with Mozart’s Requiem featuring vocalists Abigail Dueppen, Cecilia Duarte, Brian Ross Yeakley, and Blas Canedo-Gonzalez. The concert will also feature the Beaumont Interfaith Choral Society (BICS), the SOST Chorus and the Lamar Chorus. SOST is thrilled BICS is celebrating their 60th anniversary with us!
We then move on the epic work of one of the most celebrated romantic composers, Maurice Ravel. In this, his longest work, the three movements reflect the dances originally written for Sergei Diaghilev’s hour-long ballet Daphnis et Chloe. A grand epic for a night of Glory.
And what better way of ending a grand concert than Russell Peck’s The Glory and the Grandeur featuring SOST Percussionists, Jamie Strawther, Justin Collazo and Francisco Perez. The movements feature all three percussionists on separate instruments, then teaming up on one marimba before the orchestra joins them on the cadenza that began the piece. We are so excited to showcase our very own musicians from the orchestra!
Maestro Tipton and SOST are delighted to welcome concertgoers to a return to live music and the enthusiasm SOST audiences always provide. Single tickets are on sale and prices range from $32-$55 for this concert and are available at sost.org. We have also begun our subscription renewals for next year; the 2022-23 season brings us to our 70th season of wonderful symphonic music in Southeast Texas! We have quite the season planned for our Platinum Jubilee: a Celebration of Resilience! Stay tuned for more details!
Our deepest thanks go out to our show sponsors: Baptist Hospitals and Beaumont Interfaith Choral Society with Sandra Clark as our guest artist sponsor. Sponsors like these help the Symphony of Southeast Texas play a role in the education, entertainment, and cultural enrichment of all residents of Southeast Texas.
