Everyone at SOST is excited about the upcoming season, and we are working hard to have everything in place. We are looking to “Playing it Forward” with great music and outstanding guest artists joining us on the stage at the Julie Rogers Theater. We are also very happy to be returning to everyday life.
When I was growing up in Greensboro, NC, I would usher for the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra and loved hearing the music live. There is nothing like listening to a concert live, in person, and in the concert hall.
People often ask me what does the SOST do during the summer months. There are ticket sales, subscription renewals, ordering music, selling ads, getting the program book in order, and hiring musicians. The list really goes on and on. It is invigorating because all of this leads toward the opening of our season on September 18th.
I will return to Interlochen, Michigan in July to work with a student orchestra at the National Music Camp. Back in 1981, I was a student at the camp as a clarinetist so it will be nice to return. I wish everyone a wonderful summer and look forward to seeing everyone in the Julie in September.
