The Symphony of Southeast Texas is proud to announce our new season, Majestic Visions. The incredible Maestro Chelsea Tipton II begins his 15th season and will lead your SOST orchestra in a wonderful array of favorites, with some new pieces sure to be future classics. We invite you to join us this season to rediscover your Symphony of Southeast Texas!
The season opener starts with our first Classic Series concert on September 16th, Elegance of the Dance. The riveting 29-year-old American violinist William Hagen will perform Sibelius’ Violin Concerto. A native of Salt Lake City, William began playing the violin at the age of 4. Since his debut with the Utah Symphony at age nine, William has performed with conductors all over the world and studied at the Juilliard School for two years under Itzhak Perlman. The evening will also feature guest artists the Beaumont Civic Ballet dancing movements from the beautiful and classic Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake.
The first Pops concert, Mandy Barnett’s Nashville Songbook, will be October 14th when Grand Ole Opry member Mandy Barnett, one of Nashville’s enduring musical treasures, will sing unforgettable and stunning renditions of multi-genre songs that made Music City famous. Called the “Nashville Sound Chanteuse” (Music Row) and “the Judy Garland of our time” (American Songwriter), Mandy covers Patsy Cline, Elvis Presley, Hank Williams and more as she takes you on a musical journey.
Our November 11th Classic Series II concert will leave you breathless when the sound of Rodney Marsalis’ trumpet reverberates throughout the Julie Rogers. Praised by music critics for his evocative interpretation, impeccable virtuosity, and beauty of sound, Marsalis’ artistry has been enthusiastically enjoyed throughout the US, as well as abroad. The evening will also include Smetana’s Bartered Bride Overture and Beethoven’s Symphony no. 3, both hallmark masterpieces you don’t want to miss.
Bring the whole family out on Sunday, December 3rd for a 4pm matinee when the SOST orchestra will ring in the holiday season with our Home for the Holidaysconcert. The Texas Tenors will perform an all-new Christmas concert, Our Favorite Time of the Year: A Symphonic Christmas with the amazing SOST chorus joining in. So, polish your sleigh bells and gather family and friends for that most beautiful time of the year and make some new and lasting Christmas memories with The Texas Tenors.
We return in 2024 with our Classic Series III concert on February 3rd. Cliburn finalist and award-winning pianist Clayton Stephenson is on a trajectory that predicts greatness. As a very young musician, Clayton shows his mastery with Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto no. 3, like only the composer himself could do. The evening will also feature Carlos Simon’s Amen and Ravel’s Valses Nobles et Sentimentales.
On March 16th, Southeast Texas will experience the unique talents of one of America’s supreme songstresses, Melissa Errico, for our second Pops concert, A Broadway Celebration. Melissa is a woman of stage, screen, and song—a great interpreter of classic musicals and modern music alike, as well as a sparkling writer, recording artist, and film/television actress. Tonight’s concert will be akin to a musical travelog with stories of featured composers, famous and cherished music, and the stories behind their creations.
We are pulling out all the stops for our season finale on April 6th, Images that Inspire. Our annual choral concert features exciting works, Coleman’s 7 O’clock Shout and Rutter’s Gloria. Utilizing segments of the symphonic orchestra, as well as the splendid grandeur of the full orchestra, these diverse works in the choral tradition feature SOST and Lamar University choruses. Mussorgsky’s time-honored Pictures at an Exhibition will round out the evening, demonstrating the various colors of the orchestra, all recognizing Maurice Ravel’s journey through an art gallery.
Season tickets are available now through October 14th. Prices range from $135-$309 depending on where you sit. This includes the 4 Classic Series concerts and the 2 Pops concerts.
Single tickets go on sale September 1 and prices range from $36-$62 for the Classic Series and $39-$84 for the Pops Series concerts. The holiday concert will be $50 for adults and $15 for students with a discounted price of $30 for season ticket subscribers.

The Symphony of Southeast Texas, embarking on its 71st season, is a regional, professional orchestra based in Beaumont, Texas. The Symphony performs a number of subscription concerts, educational programs and other concerts throughout Southeast Texas each year. SOST’s home base is the Julie Rogers Theatre in downtown Beaumont. The orchestra is composed of local musicians from the Beaumont vicinity, as well as many musicians from the Houston and Lake Charles areas.
