Beaumont Enterprise | The Symphony of Southeast Texas performs onstage at the Jefferson Theater during the first of its four annual Youth Education Concerts Tuesday morning. Students from school districts throughout Southeast Texas and home-schooled children filled the theater seats, many of them getting their first exposure to a symphony performance.
Conductor Chelsea Tipton offered historic background and invited student participation before leading them on a musical journey centered around the theme “Sounds of Enchantment: Myths, Legends, Fairytales and Folklore in Music.” Symphony members played a variety of pieces, ranging from classical and opera to the theme songs from “Pirates of the Caribbean” and “Star Wars.”
Rachel Clark, a home-schooled student and harpist who won a solo spot with the symphony through their Concerto Competition, also performed for the group.
