“The National Endowment for the Arts is committed to ensuring all Americans have access to the arts, whether they are in a small or large, rural or urban area,” said NEA Acting Chairman Mary Anne Carter. “We are proud to support organizations such as the Symphony of Southeast Texas that are providing opportunities for more people to experience and engage in the arts in their communities.”
“This concert represents a significant step in realizing our mission of developing new audiences while holding true to our artistic goals of quality and entertainment. The program is a journey through the American Songbook, made famous by Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald,” announces Chelsea Tipton II, Music Director. He goes on to say “Byron Stripling, a good friend from our college days at the Eastman School, epitomizes the essence of these jazz legends and helps us educate, attract and entertain our symphony audiences. It will be a joy to share his talents with our growing audience.”
